Claims

Claims:
Notify your agent or our office immediately.  In the case of theft, vandalism or malicious mischief, also notify your local law enforcement. 
Your duties after a loss are listed in your policy.  An excerpt of those duties is as follows:
“In case of a loss to covered property, we have no duty to provide coverage under the policy if you fail to comply with the following duties.  These duties must be performed by you or your representative:

  1. Give prompt notice to us or your agent;
  2. Notify the police as soon as practicable in case of loss by theft or vandalism or malicious mischief;
  3. Notify the credit card or electronic fund transfer card or access device company in case of loss for credit card, etc.
  4. Protect the property from further damage.  If repairs are required to protect from further damage, you must:
    1. Make the reasonable and necessary repairs to protect the property; and
    2. Keep an accurate record of repair expenses;
  5. Cooperate with us and assist us in any matter relating to a claim or suit.
  6. Prepare an inventory of damaged personal property showing the quantity, description, actual cash value, and the amount of loss.  Attach all bills, receipts, and related documents that justify the figures in the inventory;
  7. As often as we reasonably require:
    1. Show the damaged property to us or our representative;
    2. Produce us with records and documents we request and permit us to make copies;
    3. Submit to examination under oath, while not in the presence of another insured and sign the same; and
    4. Permit us to take samples of damaged property for inspection, testing, and analysis. 
  1.  Send to us, within 60 days after our request, your signed, sworn proof of loss which sets forth, to the best of your knowledge and belief:
    1.  The time and cause of loss;
    2.  The interest of all insureds and all others in the property involved and all liens on the property;
    3. Other insurance which may cover the loss;
    4. Changes in title or occupancy of the property during the term of the policy;
    5. Specification of damaged buildings and detailed repair estimates. 
    6. The inventory of damaged personal property described in 6. above.
    7. Receipts for additional living expenses incurred and records that support the fair rental value loss; and
    8. Evidence or affidavit that supports a claim under credit card, electronic fund transfer card or access device, forgery and counterfeit money, stating the amount and cause of loss.”
